magazine decisions 1/16

My first idea for the cover was to use a close-up image of myself. In most of the covers I saw from the 'Vibe' magazine I noticed that the main picture was a close up or mid-body shot of one artist with a serious face to portray the magazine as sophisticated. However, I found out that I had to use original pictures taken by me so I decided to use my sister as a model. I followed some of the elements of the 'vibe' magazine. For instance, I used a black backdrop to allow the orange and white font of the text to pop out and attract the audience.

I also decided to approach the features' spread in a similar way. I used one main picture in the left page and a couple of smaller pictures on top of the pages. I also added the lines used in the 'vibe' magazine through Indesign and added the text under them. To help my magazine maintain a consistent theme and color scheme while still giving it a unique touch and following the codes and conventions of the 'vibe' magazine. I also wore high-end clothing to let the audience know that the magazine they are reading is refined and will have some fashion aspects to it.

Similarly to the 'vibe' magazine, I will use a san-serif capitalized font to make the words "Table of contents" stand out. However, I will change the color of the font to white so it can be visible since my pictures where taken with a black backdrop instead of a white one.
Because my picture for the table of contents has similar proportions as the 'Vibe' magazine, I will keep the text on one side of the page.
