vibe magazine cover analysis (11/30)

After analyzing various covers from the Vibe magazine, I noticed some characteristics that could be helpful when creating my magazine. For instance, the masthead of the Vibe magazine is always placed on the top of the page with a sans-serif font. The colors of the title are usually brighter than the rest of the page to make it stand out and most of the times the color of the masthead matches the color of the font being used for the sub-headlines/anchorages. The background colors of the cover are usually black or white to make the subject of the image stand out. When it's a woman, the color scheme is usually lighter to make it more feminine
.

For example, the Beyonce cover color scheme is kept soft with mainly gold and white colors. However, when the cover focuses on a male, a darker color scheme is used to make it more masculine. For instance, the magazine that has Trey in the cover has a red, black and white color scheme, which could mean that it's mainly aimed to attract men or keep the magazine masculine.

I also noticed that although both the drake and Trey magazine had a dark color scheme, the Drake magazine was mainly black and white, which could mean that the magazine will be focusing on more serious issues like "Racism". The subjects of the image used in these covers are music artists go the hip-hop culture and they are mostly shot up close or mid-body. The faces of the artists are serious which probably means that the magazine is sophisticated and it will provide facts mainly entertainment related.

The magazine always has a bar code which is essential so the magazine can be sold. In addition, the magazine promotes it's brand by putting pictures of other exclusive covers.
